What is an Eyelid Lift?

To repair drooping or sagging eyelids eyelid lift or Blepharoplasty is done. This condition of sagging eyelids is known as Ptosis.

Why is the Procedure performed?

Those who have extreme eyelid drooping which starts interfering with the vision opt for an eyelid lift.

It is called an elective or cosmetic surgery, when it is performed to improve the appearance for cosmetic reasons. The eyelid lift may be done even accompanied with other facial surgery like an eyebrow lift or a facelift.

For removing wrinkles around the eyes, or to lift sagging eyebrows, or to eliminate dark circles under the eyes, this procedure is neither recommended nor undertaken.

How does the procedure work?

With increasing age the problem of drooping or sagging eyelids comes naturally. Some people may develop diseases such as myasthenia gravis that causes eyelid sagging while some are born with the condition of droopy eyelids.

So that no pain is felt during the surgery a numbing medicine is injected around the eye. Than into the natural creases or folds of the eyelids tiny cuts are made, and then the removal of loose skin and extra fat tissue is done. Then after tightening the eyelid muscles stitches are placed in the area.
